Grooming Tips
Brush
Make sure to brush your dogs fur with a slicker brush and a comb. Brush all parts of the dog, ears, legs, tail and armpits. Using the comb helps you find any knots. You want to be going over your dogs fur with the brush and the comb as often as possible as this helps them get used to the process. Brushing your pet is the BEST way to prevent matting
Bathing
Bathing your dog helps prevent knots! You want to wash out mud, grass, and anything else the fur might have picked up.
Why Prevent Mats?
Matting is a painful condition that can. lead to health concerns. Mats trap moisture by cutting off airflow through the hair which can cause irritation and sores.
If your dog's ears become matted the blood vessels can rupture and cause a hematoma.
Dematting can be an uncomfortable process. If the matting is severe, clipping the hair may be a safer option than brushing.
If you need help please let us know. We will be more than happy to show you the proper way to maintain your pets coat!
FLEAS
Due to the nature of our business there is always a chance your pet may come into contact with fleas. We do not accept pets with fleas. However, it is possible that they could be missed at check in. Please ensure your pet is protected by administering a monthly preventative. This salon will not accept liability for your pet contracting fleas during their stay. If your pet happens to bring fleas into the shop. Please note there will be a flea clean up fee of $1 added to your groom price. Thank you for your cooperation.
WE PROUDLY OFFER BLUEBERRY FACIALS
What is a Blueberry Facial and do I need one?
Contrary to what some may believe, a Blueberrry Facial for your pet is not of the same kind you would experience at your local “human” spa. Although a proper grooming facial will employ the same rotating technique of circular movements it does not imply your pet will receive a “scrubbing” like humans do since the main focus is on the hair strands and not the skin.
A Blueberry Facial is an excellent way of getting rid of some tear stains and enhancing the coat’s color naturally while providing a calming, aromatherapeutic experience for your pet. Even though most pet parents think its only appropriate for white hair the truth is that this process is great for all colors and coats.
Simple Yet Powerful
We have found that is always better to apply the blueberry solution after a good deep-coat wash and brush since the calming natural scents will allow your pet to relax and enjoy the rest of the session. Our staff will then get down to the nitty-gritty by providing an enjoyable head and face massage using circular motion throughout the whole face area to allow the solution to penentrate. It is then left undisturbed a couple of minutes to let nature do it’s thing by activating all the powerful antioxidents and allowing then to get down to work, After a good rinse the result is not only brighter, cleaner hair but also strengthened strands that are now better equipped naturally to fight off dirt and stains.
Through regular use you will start to notice that your pet’s face becomes fluffier and able to stay cleaner longer thanks to rich levels of vitamins A, D and E
Holistic Grooming
WHAT IS HOLISTIC GROOMING?
Grooming dogs and cats in a holistic manner merely means giving consideration to the well being of the pet in its entirety. It is more than giving a good bath , dry, and haircut, it is thinking of the pet nas a complex, sensitive, living creature and treating it with a level of respect and kindness that will support it’s mental, psychological and physical well being. A good groom is expected from all professional stylists, but a great groom leaves the pet feeling as good as it looks. How can one accomplish this?
In part, steps would involve working in such a way that the groomer (and grooming staff, where applicable) work together to ensure the well-being of the animals mind, body and spirit. Grooming holistically goes beyond the basic physical work of washing, drying, brushing and trimming an animal’s coat. This discipline of grooming takes the pet’s psychological and emotional needs into consideration, promoting a feeling of comfort and security for the pet during grooming and a feeling of contentment when the process is complete.
